According to Public Health France, “an intensification of the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 seems to be beginning, the evolution of which will need to be monitored vigilantly over the coming weeks”. In recent weeks, pharmacists in Lyon have noted an increase in requests for self-tests.
The number of tests compared to August increased fourfold in September, with a positive rate of 20%. People know the symptoms, they come to buy the self-tests if they have the slightest doubt.

According to Stéphane Paul, immunologist in Saint-Etienne, the acceleration in the number of cases in the Lyon region is explained by “the density of the population, as in Paris or Marseille, and by the absence of barrier gestures”.
