doctor admits trying to kill mother’s boyfriend with fake Covid-19 vaccine

A British doctor has pleaded guilty to attempted murder for trying to kill his mother’s partner using a fake Covid-19 vaccine.

He thought he was getting a Covid-19 vaccine, but was actually poisoned. Thomas Kwan, a 53-year-old family doctor from Sunderland in the United Kingdom, pleaded guilty to attempted murder on Monday, shortly after his trial opened at Newcastle Crown Court last week, court staff said .

According to prosecutor Peter Makepeace, the doctor had drawn up a plan to get rid of his mother’s boyfriend, after she had told him that she wanted to inherit her house, an inheritance initially going to her son.

A flesh-eating bacteria

It was then that Thomas Kwan, using his knowledge of medicine, began researching various poisons to put his plan into action. “This plan consisted of disguising himself as a community nurse, going to Mr O’Hara’s (the boyfriend’s) address, the home he shared with the accused’s mother, and injecting him a dangerous poison under the pretext of administering a Covid booster injection,” said the prosecutor.

Thomas Kwan checked into a hotel under a false name, used a false license plate on his car and disguised himself with a wig, Peter Makepeace added.

Ultimately, the victim survived but suffered necrotizing fasciitis, a potentially fatal flesh-eating bacterial infection, after receiving the sting, prosecutors said.
