Covid-19 is making a comeback: should we still isolate ourselves for 7 days in the event of contamination?

Covid-19 is making a comeback this fall, with an increase in cases. No worries, but some precautions still need to be taken.

Covid-19 is making a strong comeback at the start of autumn. “The numbers are starting to rise, it’s a seasonal disease”confirms Lara Kotlar, spokesperson for AVIQ, the Walloon Agency for Quality Life. “So it’s normal but all the indicators remain green so don’t panic.”

If symptoms appear, it is always possible to test yourself at home using self-tests. Some doctors are also continuing PCR tests. It is also possible to be vaccinated against the disease.

So what should we do if we have Covid?

You must first go through your doctor so that he can report the illness. “We declare so that we can follow up and prevent it from degenerating”explains Lara Kotlar.

Do we still have to isolate ourselves for 7 days?

“No but you are taking precautionary measures”says Lara Kotlar. “For example, we don’t go to work. We also take measures at home to protect the family. We wash our hands or cough into our elbow, we throw away our tissue, we don’t put it back in our pocket and we ventilate above all. But this is advice that is valid for all diseases.”

What about the mask?

“It’s a useful barrier for everyone”said the spokesperson. “It’s a routine that you have to have, like in Asian countries. In hospitals or to visit a nursing home, it’s always useful. But for the moment, wearing a mask is not obligatory, nor even recommended. It is kindness towards others.
