You have to get used to living with Covid-19, but we had forgotten it a little. As if we didn’t want to remember a time, not so long ago, when vaccines, antigen tests and masks punctuated everyone’s daily life. Or almost.
On September 25, Public Health France reported an increase in Covid-19 circulation indicators, in community medicine and in hospitals, all ages combined. “An intensification of the circulation of Sars-CoV-2 seems to be beginning, the evolution of which will need to be monitored vigilantly over the coming weeks”then warned Public Health France in its press release.
Varies from one sector to another
“We were more expecting the flu than the Covidindicates medical assistance from Val de l’Indre, itself affected two weeks ago. “We have had an increase in sales for around ten days, with all the profiles concerned”reports staff at a pharmacy in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps. In another in Joué-lès-Tours, purchases of tests have tripled since the start of the school year. But levels remain low, with only around ten boxes sold.
“We sell around fifty per week currently compared to almost none this summer”indicates another pharmacy on avenue de Grammont, in Tours. “The practice of testing has been on the rise for two weeksadds another from the Deux-Lions district. We do around ten per week compared to half as many a month ago. The sale of tests is also on the rise. »
A new vaccination campaign
“Covid never left, we recall in another Jocondian pharmacy. We’re testing a little at the moment, but it’s not an explosion either. » Boxes of masks are also starting to find buyers again. “We put them back on, it feels weird. And we do prevention with patientscontinues the medical assistant. Some are reluctant, others not. Since around the second week of September, we have systematically tested those who have symptoms. There are afternoons when that’s all we do. »
Hélène had symptoms around mid-September. “It was very bearable. No fever, nose and throat slightly inflamed »she confides. Tired and sore for a week, she took a test “out of curiosity. On the other hand, I did not test my children who live with me because they had no symptoms. » The mother continued her usual activities, avoiding close contact “as I would have done for any other respiratory infection.”
Public Health France also calls for the return of barrier gestures in the event of symptoms. The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 and influenza, mainly targeting people aged 65 and over, as well as people at risk of serious illness, will begin on October 15, 2024.
