First tracks from the soundtrack of “Emilia Perez” available online

The first five tracks from the soundtrack of “Emilia Perez,” Jacques Audiard’s Cannes-winning musical, were released online Thursday, their co-composer and performer, singer Camille, announced on Instagram.

“While waiting for the full album which will be released this fall, I am happy to announce today the release of an EP of 5 tracks taken from the soundtrack of Emilia Perez. Enjoy listening! Viva Emilia!”, writes the artist who composed the soundtrack with his partner, the musician Clément Ducol.

The five songs are notably sung by three of the four main actresses of the film, who received a collective actress award at Cannes: Karla Sofia Gascon, who plays a Mexican drug lord in gender transition, Zoe Saldana, who plays his lawyer, Selena Gomez and Adriana Paz.

Thriller sombre

Camille lends her voice to one of the five tracks posted online on the various platforms.

In a post at the end of August, the French singer explained that she had worked “body and soul” for four and a half years on this project. “I wrote the lyrics of the songs in Spanish and composed the music in collaboration with my partner Clément Ducol. I also sang the chorus of the soundtrack and provided vocal direction in collaboration with the magnificent performers of the film,” she wrote.

Shot in Spanish, elegantly mixing a dark thriller set in an ultraviolent Mexican society and choreographed scenes to the sound of reggaeton, Mexican music and even a classic French song, Emilia Perez won the Jury Prize at Cannes.

Since its release in France two weeks ago, it has attracted 448,815 spectators, according to figures published on Wednesday.
