Former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe formalizes his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election

Édouard Philippe is charting his course and has chosen this 2024 back-to-school period to formalize his candidacy for the 2027 French presidential election, in an interview with the magazine The PointWhile the head of state is slow to appoint a new Prime Minister, the mayor of Le Havre is setting his course and making his difference heard.

« I will be a candidate in the next presidential election. »: this announcement by Édouard Philippe made in the columns of the magazineThe Point is not a surprise. Since leaving Matignon in July 2020, the man who has become mayor of Le Havre again has been patiently building his candidacy for 2027. What is questionable is that he is making it official this fall, without waiting for a Prime Minister to be appointed.

True to his position, he thus once again marks his distance from current political events and Emmanuel Macron, by repeating in particular ” all the evil he thought ” of the decision to dissolve the National Assembly. He even claims to be ready in the event of an early presidential election, a way of acknowledging that it will be difficult for Emmanuel Macron to last three years.
