SUnder a blazing sun, Jean-Pierre M., 60, is gardening with his son in a small village in the Drôme in July 2021. Suddenly, he begins to make a semblance of a confession: “I’m crazy, I don’t know what I did, I had someone come to the house,” he confides to his son, who has no idea what he is referring to. We will leave it there. A week earlier, Jean-Pierre M. had, once again, had a pensioner he barely knows come to his room at night, so that he could rape his wife in their own bed. His name is Dominique Pélicot. Between 2015 and 2020, a dozen rapes were allegedly committed on the victim, Corinne (name changed), who was asleep by her husband who was giving her Temesta tablets. The same ones used by Dominique Pélicot to abuse his wife Gisèle and deliver her to dozens of strangers for years in Mazan (Vaucluse).
Among the accused, Jean-Pierre M. is the only one who has never been to Mazan. On the other hand, he has formed a very special relationship with Dominique Pélicot, whom he met around 2016 on the chat site Coco.fr. Under the pseudonym “Rasmus”, he exchanges with “Marc”, “Marcdorian”, “Dompteur” or “Pervers”, the nicknames of Dominique Pélicot, on a chat room called “À l’insu”. When his wife asks him what he does, late at night, on the computer, Jean-Pierre M. pretends to do research for “gardening”.
