UA shower of French medals fell on the Arena Porte de la Chapelle where the parabadminton events were taking place on September 2. The day began early in the morning with the bronze medal of Lucas Mazur and Faustine Noël in mixed doubles. Later, in the late afternoon, the same Lucas Mazur won the Paralympic title in the individual event. A performance also achieved by Charles Noakes in his SH6 category which includes athletes of small stature.

“Winning at home in front of your parents is a dream come true”

Three medals including two titles, it’s a day that the French para-badminton team will remember for a long time. And especially the main players involved, including Lucas Mazur, a double medallist in just a few hours. “It was the best day of my life as a man but also as an athlete. I was very happy to be able to perform in the morning and later, around 6 p.m.,” marvels the Frenchman, who suffers from a malformation in his right ankle.

His individual final was masterfully won in two sets (21-9, 21-13) against the Indian Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, who recently stole his place as world number one.
