These breakfast cereals consumed by many French people are the worst according to 60 million consumers

For those who like to have breakfast with cereals or muesliyou are spoiled for choice. There are, in fact, many products on the market. It is therefore appropriate to favor a healthy choice every day. And some of them are absolutely to be avoided, according to an investigation of 60 Million consumers.

Whether they are crunchy with chocolate and hazelnuts or release a delicious honeyed trail in milk, the little one’s cereals, however, almost have a major problem: they are often anything but healthy.

In fact, these are industrial products, made tasty by the addition, often in generous, even exaggerated doses, sugars, colorings, flavorings and sweeteners divers. All this at the expense of fiber and unprocessed ingredients.

But start making a strict selection, by studying the labels before buying?

In order to offer consumers a ranking of the healthiest cereals and mueslis for the body, 60 Million consumers evaluated the glycemic content of no less than 24 references. Namely 12 cereals and 12 mueslis, from different brands (Gerblé. Bjorg. Nestlé. Kellog’s. Quaker. Jordans. Charles Vignon…), but also from distributor brands (Bio village from E. Leclerc. Chabrior from Intermarché. Carrefour Bio …).

60 Million consumers took into account criteria such as Nutri-Score, the presence of additives, salt, fiber and sugar content. Without forgetting, of course, the glycemic load. Note also that the latter does not appear on the packaging.

Overall, according to 60 Million consumers, the cereal category displays glycemic loads “very high”with an average of 30. On the other hand, the magazine indicates that a single bowl of cereals provides a third of the daily sugar intake that the WHO recommends.

The WHO currently recommends a maximum dose of 6 teaspoons of added sugars per day (1 tsp = approx. 4 g). That is to say approximately 25 g per day.

The magazine 60 Millions of consumers therefore advises, whatever may be, to favor mueslis. In fact, half of the samples tested have a lower glycemic load than cereals.

According to this analysis, which are the best and worst cereals?

At the forefront of cereals « healthy », 60 Million consumers highlights oatmeal. The latter are rich in protein, but also in soluble fiber which promotes satiety. Mueslis will, in fact, allow you to get through the morning without having a blood sugar peak.
