In March 2024, Kate Middleton announced that she was suffering from cancer. Since January already, the Princess of Wales has been away from the public scene for unclear reasons surrounding her state of health. A year later, cured and more elegant than ever, Prince William’s wife announced with great joy her remission.
On January 14, she went to the Royal Marsden in London, the hospital where she cared and accompanied her during her treatment, to meet cancer patients and talk with them. Angela Terry, present on site, shared the princess’s confidences with People. “I heard her talk about the shock of the diagnosis and she said, ‘Yes! The shock, and it’s not just you, it’s the whole family, isn’t it?”, she remembers. She was very open. She had this “we’re all in this together” approach. It was really heartwarming to see. »
Kate’s cancer has affected the entire royal family. Prince William remembered this “terrible” period, ensuring that the year had been “probably the most difficult of my life”. Last September, the Princess of Wales reflected on the impact cancer had had on her family in a video message: “The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. Life as we know it can change in an instant, and we had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown road. Cancer is a complex, scary and unpredictable journey for everyone, especially those closest to us,” Kate Middleton said.

Kate Middleton took advantage of her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital to interact with doctors and patients and share her own experience of cancer and chemotherapy.
-Angela Terry was waiting to receive treatment when the princess arrived at the London hospital. Aged 71, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. “I was waiting to be called to take my blood test. I just caught her eye as she walked past me and said, “You look beautiful.” And she just smiled and said: ‘You too’,” the Briton told the American magazine.
Angela said she was struck by the presence and involvement of the Princess of Wales. She described her as “elegant, authentic and sincere”: “I’ve seen her speak to other patients and she is incredible. (…) The level of connection she establishes with each person she meets is phenomenal. »
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said Kate Middleton visited the Royal Marsden Hospital to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also to highlight the world-leading care and treatment that the Marsden provides.” The princess’s visit had not been announced in advance and coincided with the announcement of her remission.
