The FCC investigates the scam of a French woman who lived in Mauritius

The moving story of this French woman made the rounds on social networks and the spokesperson for Hollywood celebrity Brad Pitt reacted. The actor called it awful that scammers are taking advantage of the strong bond that exists between fans and celebrities. This scam, revealed in the show Seven to Eight on TF1, tells how a 53-year-old interior designer was duped by a scammer sending her messages and fake photos of Brad Pitt generated by AI.

After starting a ‘relationship’ with her and proposing to marry her, the scammer sent fake photos showing Brad Pitt in the hospital, claiming the actor was suffering from cancer and needed money to heal. He also claimed that Brad Pitt’s ex-wife, actress Angelina Jolie, had frozen his bank accounts. The victim, who lived in Mauritius at the time of the scam, was taken from around Rs 39,840,000 (around 830,000 euros). Since then, she has settled in and filed a complaint there. The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) will also open an investigation into this matter, as the crime occurred while the victim was residing in Mauritius.
