Belgian comedian Richard Ruben celebrates 30 years of career with an exceptional show on March 27 at Forest National. This return to an emblematic stage promises a unique mix of imitations, stand-up, and music, all with renewed energy and spectacular staging.
On March 24, 1995, Richard Ruben performed for the first time at Forest National. “It was natural, not for grandeur or megalomania. It was to share with people”he remembers. This year, he celebrates this anniversary with a new show, but there is no question of giving in to nostalgia. “We start from there to look at the world of today and especially of tomorrow.”
Between modernity and audacity
This show, co-written and directed with Sam Touzani, will be an opportunity for Richard Ruben to mix his talents as a showman: imitations, stand-up and music. He enjoys revisiting iconic and current voices: “I’m going to move from Jean-Claude Van Damme to Vincent Cassel”.
The new features don’t stop there. He also imitates contemporary stars like Adèle, Maneskin or John Legend, accompanied on stage by Tom and his ten instruments: “With the quality of current sound systems, we can do magnificent things”.
-The Forest National challenge
Forest National, with its capacity and its unique atmosphere, remains a legendary place for any Belgian artist. “I went to see Foresti a few years ago, and the room offers incredible proximity to the public. Thanks to screens and today’s technology, we can do magnificent things”enthuses the comedian.
For him, stand-up remains a formidable weapon: “He’s a standing guy who makes sitting people laugh”. “I’m lucky to be in great shape. Maybe one day I’ll turn to writing, but for now, I love being on stage”he confides.
Laughter, a combat sport
At a time when humor is sometimes criticized, Richard Ruben remains faithful to his freedom of tone. “In 2025, laughing is a combat sport. But I always say what I think. And I’m counting on the people at Forest to get in the ring with me”.
