After “Kaali Parameshwari Medley” and “Parameshawaya”, artist Vikshay Aubeelack unveiled his latest title, “Jeevan Mein”, in sega version, on December 29 on his YouTube channel. In just a few days, the song has already garnered more than 21,000 views. Meet this passionate artist.
Vikshay Aubeelack, 25, did not expect such success for the release of his third single. “People are sharing the song on various social media and platforms. I’m really happy with the impact this song has had. I didn’t expect such enthusiasm at all,” confides the artist, who also holds the position of Consumer Finance Assistant.
It is the flagship song of the Bollywood film, “Bichhoo” that Vikshay Aubeelack chose to revisit. For the occasion, he reinvented it in a Mauritian style, accompanied by a video clip filmed in several emblematic places on the island. “We kept the original lyrics, while adding passages in Creole. It’s a completely revisited version, punctuated by the catchy sounds of Sega. Mauritians love Séga, and we wanted to please them,” he confides.
Music has always played an important place in Vikshay Aubeelack’s life, since a very young age. He was inspired by the journey of the Mauritian singer Vanida Thoplan whom he greatly admires. This is what led him to explore the world of song at the age of 17. It was during the celebration of the Thaipoosam Cavadee festival that he took his first steps.
“Accompanied by other enthusiasts, we spontaneously sang during the Cavadee festival celebrations. I didn’t know I had such talent, but the encouragement from those present pushed me to persevere. That’s how I joined the Pandava Maheswara group to lend my voice in the kovils,” he says.
-Subsequently, encouragement poured in, pushing him to expand his repertoire. Aware of his potential, he decided to take singing lessons to refine his technique and perfect his art. Once trained, he began performing at events, including weddings.
“I revisit songs by Shreya Ghoshal, Lata Mangeshkar, Arijit Singh. My preferences are not limited to a particular era or style. I perform various pieces: Bollywood, Tamil songs or even Sega,” he confides.
Buoyed by the success of “Jeevan Mein”, the artist is already in full preparation for his next musical projects. He has a nice surprise in store for his fans with a devotional song planned for the Maha Shivaratree festival. “I’m currently working on this devotional song, but that’s not all. After that, we will launch an original composition, a catchy piece that I hope the audience will like,” he concludes.
