This Saturday, January 18, 2025, the list of newly promoted members of the Legion of Honor and the Order of Merit was revealed and published in the Official Journal, and this edition has a particular flavor. If we find the usual celebrities from cinema, music or politics, the spotlight has mainly been put on lesser known, but equally admirable, heroes. Around a hundred craftsmen and experts who participated in the rebirth of Notre-Dame de Paris which reopened on Saturday December 7, 2024 before the eyes of millions of faithful, after the devastating fire of April 2019, received the honors. Philippe Jost, at the head of the titanic project, was made Commander of the Legion of Honor. Alongside him, 33 knights of this prestigious distinction and 67 members of the National Order of Merit, including craftsmen, entrepreneurs and construction managers, were praised for their exemplary involvement. This recognition pays tribute to these men and women behind the scenes, who work every day to preserve a heritage that is the pride of France.
Beyond the artisans of Notre-Dame, this class of 2025 is full of familiar faces. Camille Cottin, Mélanie Thierry and Étienne Daho joined the ranks of the knights of the Legion of Honor, while figures like Philippe Labro, journalist and writer, rose to the rank of grand officer.
