Director David Lynch dies aged 78

The Very Deep America by David Lynch

His style earned his work the adjective “Lynchian”. A universe that we find from his first feature, Eraserheadin 1977. He returned to a more realistic style in 1980 for Elephant Man before tackling the adaptation of Dunewhich came out in 1984. Blue Velvetin 1986, is one of the films that best sums up the world of David Lynch, who won the Palme d’Or at in 1990 with Sailor et Lula. The movie Twin Peaks : Fire Walks with meinspired by the series, arrived on screens in 1992. Five years later, Lynch directed Lost Highwayand surprised everyone in 1999 with A true story. Lynch returned in 2001 with the spellbinding Mulholland Drive and made his last film in 2006, Inland Empire.

David Lynch had therefore notably received the Palme d’Or of the Cannes Film Festival in 1990 for Sailor et Lula. The Venice Festival awarded him an honorary Golden Lion in 2006 for his entire career. Career which was also crowned with an honorary Oscar in 2020.
