A unique encounter that she will not forget. Guest of the France 2 show “Télématin” to talk about her new role as ambassador for the show “Holiday on Ice 2025”, Élodie Gossuin shared two anecdotes from her meeting with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Miss France and Miss Europe 2001 unfortunately does not have good memories of her few seconds of exchanges with the star actor of “Titanic” in the French capital. “It was a Parisian evening after Miss France. I even believe that Geneviève (from Fontenay) was there. An evening after the screening of a film in Paris,” recalls the woman who is now a presenter.
“He tells me in English that he’s staying at the Crillon, that it’s a room and that it would be nice to stop by. I actually felt a little humiliated, you see. It wasn’t very classy. The wild card side of things never really appealed to me,” says Bertrand Lacherie’s wife. Élodie Gossuin was 20 years old at the time, while Leonardo DiCaprio was 26.
“Not very classy”
“It’s not elegant. He didn’t do it in an elegant way,” commented Julien Arnaud, presenter of “Télématin” with Flavie Flament. An opinion shared by the latter who did not fail to comment: “Not very classy indeed. »
During the show, the mother, now 44 years old, also spoke about the relationship she had with Geneviève de Fontenay, the former president of the Miss France committee who died in August 2023, to whom she paid a beautiful tribute.
“I miss her,” she first confided. “I found out what she was without her hat and she was a great lady. Loyal, honest, honest despite the image of being bourgeois and loud-mouthed. (…) I find it difficult to talk about it in the past tense, but she was an incredible lady,” she concluded.
