Saying hello to Nana one last time was for them.”an obvious fact“. Nearly a hundred Marseillais, close friends and relatives, took part this Thursday, January 16 in the morning in the procession organized on the occasion of the funeral of the famous fishmonger of the Old Port, Anna Lubrano, whom everyone knew as nickname Nana, and who died on Friday January 10 at the age of 96.
Starting from his home on rue de la Loge (2nd), the pedestrian convoy accompanied the funeral vehicle to the Saint-Laurent church, in Le Panier. Passers-by at a standstill, traders on their doorsteps, many expressed their emotion and affection for Nana as the procession passed: “Poor Nana, she was a very good woman, very kind, said a neighbor. 96 years old, all the same… sometimes we forget that we are not immortal…” In the ranks, we could recognize a few personalities like the former socialist deputy Sylvie Andrieux and the former mayor of Sausset-les-Pins and LR deputy Eric Diard, who came to pay tribute to this “great lady of Marseille, whose family I greatly appreciate and particularly her son who lives in Sausset“.
“An international icon and a humanist”
Arriving in front of the Saint-Laurent church, the procession joined more than a hundred other Marseillais who came to attend the funeral ceremony, headed by the mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan (DVG), his deputy in charge of education Pierre Huguet (PM), the municipal councilor of the 2nd and 3rd arrondissements Solange Biaggi (LR), the former mayor of the sector and municipal councilor Lisette Narducci (DVG) or the former mayor of 1st and 7th arrondissements Sabine Bernasconi (LR). “Nana was not just an international icon, she was a humanist, recalled the president of the fishing industrial tribunal Mourad Kahoul, “disappointed not to have had a black day at the fish market and that all the fishermen were not present this morning. Nana was the mother of all fishermen. A stele would be needed to pay tribute to this Italian family who gave everything to Marseille.“

Led by the father of the diocese, Didier Rocca who recalled that Saint-Laurent was the church of fishermen, the ceremony paid tribute to this “hard worker, Nana was a character, but behind this character, there was a person, a mother, a pillar for a family“Words which, in the crowded church, squeezed the hearts of Francis and Marilou, Nana’s two children.”Proof that you can be a star without leaving home, Nana has helped to make our beautiful city shine through her personality.” Before the coffin passes through the church door on Julien Doré’s version Mama’s eyesat the end of an hour of ceremony, the priest invited the assembly to pay homage to Nana by being “like her, a living one, a living one. She was there. A loving, original, lively, luminous presence. Let’s be alive, let’s love Marseille as she loved it, she was one of its emblems, let’s be the same too.”
