why TF1 deleted the replay of its report

After the broadcast of a report on “Sept à quatre” relaying the testimony of Anne, a woman defrauded by a fake Brad Pitt, TF1 decided to delete the replay of this passage from the show to protect the victim.

The footage went viral on social media in just a few hours. Sunday January 12, viewers of Seven to eight discovered with amazement the testimony of Anne, a 53-year-old French woman who believed she was having a romantic relationship with Brad Pitt. In front of the camera, the fifty-year-old says she interacted for several months with a scammer (a scammer active on the internet) who posed as the American actor by sending him messages in English and photos generated by AI.

Dumb, Anne sent 800,000 euros to the fake Brad Pitt, who claimed to need money for a kidney transplant. At the time, the Frenchwoman was married to a millionaire, from whom she has since divorced, but felt deeply alone. “I had someone in front of me who was interested in me and my work because my own husband wasn’t even interested in my work,” she confides in Seven to eight.

Anne victim of cyberharassment after the broadcast of the report

The images from the report, showing the deepfakes sent to Anne, and screenshots of her conversations with the scammer, quickly created a buzz on social networks and inspired numerous parodies. Psychologically fragile, the victim became the target of numerous taunts. Faced with this cyberharassment, TF1 removed the replay of Seven to eight before putting it back without the 20-minute sequence devoted to Anne’s story. A decision taken to stop the mockery of the victim: “Seven to eight is an information program that deals neutrally with social problems. The report broadcast this Sunday sparked a wave of harassment against a witness. For the protection of victims, we have decided to remove it from our platforms,” explained La Une sur X.
