The Weeknd announces the postponement of the release of his album

L’album Hurry Up Tomorrowscheduled for January 24, will finally be available a week later. The singer also canceled a concert, in solidarity with the residents of Los Angeles.

Fans of The Weeknd will have to wait another week for his sixth album Hurry Up Tomorrowinitially expected on January 24, will finally be released on the 31st. A one-week postponement decided “out of respect and concern for the inhabitants of Los Angeles”, ravaged by deadly fires, as he explained on Instagram on Monday January 13.

“This city has always been a deep source of inspiration to me, and my thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time,” he wrote.

“My priority remains supporting the recovery of these communities and supporting the incredible residents (of Los Angeles) as they rebuild (the city),” he added.

The 34-year-old artist also announced the cancellation of his concert at the Rose Bowl stadium in Los Angeles, scheduled for Saturday January 25, citing the same reasons.

Los Angeles under fire

For a week, and despite the massive mobilization of firefighters, entire sections of the second largest city in the United States are devastated: more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed and more than 15,000 hectares have gone up in smoke. Around 92,000 people are still affected by an evacuation order. The balance sheet amounts to at least 24 deaths.

The Critics Choice Awards ceremony, which was to be held on Sunday, was thus postponed, and the nominations for the SAG Awards (SAG), the awards of the American actors’ union, were revealed by simple press release. The Oscar nominations, which were to be announced on January 17, will finally be announced on the 23rd.
