the release of the film Emily’s Shadow 2 played by the star, is not canceled assures its director brushing aside the rumors

Director Paul Feig assured the networks that the release of the film “Emily’s Shadow 2”, with Blake Lively, was still relevant, after the publication of a message from an Internet user suggesting the opposite against a backdrop of legal battle between the actress and Justin Baldoni.

An unfounded rumor. “It’s complete rubbish. The film has been completed and will be released soon. Don’t believe everything you read on social media these days,” published Saturday, January 11, director Paul Feig, at the helm of this feature film, a sequel to the thriller “Emily’s Shadow” released in 2018. Obviously very annoyed, he responded to a message from an Internet user announcing the cancellation of the release of this second part, until an undetermined date, reports Variety magazine.

The day before, an Internet user had assured on the X network that the Amazon Prime Video platform was suspending the release of the film “Emily’s Shadow 2” “despite laudatory test screenings”. And he even went so far as to mention several reasons. “Blake Lively’s refusal to promote the film – amid her messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni – and growing tensions with Anna Kendrick derailed the sequel,” he continued, going so far as to clarify: “ Anna (Kendrick co-star of the film with Blake Lively editor’s note) is furious. Paul Feig is disappointed.

A film expected for spring or summer

Enough to make Paul Feig out of his hinges, who also returned to the release date of the film, at the request of the Internet user, the latter emphasizing that the film has been completed since last April.

“This is what we call post-production, which generally takes more than six months,” the director then replied, referring to the many stages – editing, music, special effects, sound mixing, subtitling – by which must play a film between the end of filming and its release. Paul Feig recalled that the film should be completely finished “by mid-January”. And to clarify: “Films don’t come out the second they’re finished. We’ve always planned a release in the spring or summer of this year,” before concluding: “That’s how movies work.”

As a reminder, this rumor comes as actress Blake Lively filed a complaint on December 20 for harassment against Justin Baldoni, the director of “Never Again” and also her on-screen partner. The latter denies these accusations and announced via his lawyers a vigorous response.
