Since she had retired from public life, Maïté could count on her granddaughters, Perrine and Camilleto give his news. The latter have been in great demand in recent weeks, after the disappearance of their dear grandmother. Maïté bowed out on December 21, 2024 at the age of 86 in the Rion des Landes retirement home in which she had lived for quite some time and where she was born.
Perrine and Camille (who followed in her grandmother’s footsteps in the kitchen) had to endure this disappearance. As recalled Southweston the day of the funeral, the emotion was palpable: “It is with immense sadness that I take the floor to say goodbye to our grandmother. To tell you about Maïté, but not about the grandmother known to everyone: about our grandmother, the only one in the world. Maïté was much more than a grandmother, she was my example, a force of inspiration. She had this light within her, this mixture of gentleness and strength. We always felt safe by his side.”

Some time after the funeral organized on December 26, Maïté’s two granddaughters spoke in the columns of Paris Match. Because if the famous cook on the French small screen had a very assertive character, certain life events deeply affected her. The death of her husband but also and above all that of her son Serge, father of Camille and Perrine. Nevertheless, Maïté was far from the state of depression that many have mentioned at the time.
“My grandmother was a force of nature. To tell you the truth, I only saw her cry once. When his son, our father, died” recalled one of the granddaughters on the day of the funeral. In the pages of Paris Match, the two young women also specify: “She never had the depression that the newspapers talked about. It’s been exaggerated, even though it’s a real tragedy.” Now, Maïté has found her husband and their son, this man without whom she had to learn to live again.
