Behind the scenes with… Mégan Brouillard, the former room attendant who now fills the rooms

Comedian Mégan Brouillard is experiencing a special return to her roots by touring the concert halls of Quebec for the very first time during her first solo show Quackgrass. The one who once worked at the Maison des arts Desjardins Drummondville performance hall is now discovering behind the scenes with another eye.

“I think about it often, about how it works,” emphasizes the 25-year-old comedian.

As she travels across the province, she discovers the well-kept secrets of each region. “We were paid, but in certain rooms, it was volunteers,” she observes.

This new perspective also allows him to satisfy his curiosity about lodges. “I open the drawers, I search. Sometimes there is a small camp bed, sometimes not, it’s fun to discover,” says the woman who travels in the company of her technician and the comedian who performs her opening act. When the QMI Agency moved behind the scenes, it was Charles-Antoine Des Granges who occupied this role.

Before each performance, Mégan Brouillard carries out her sound tests in a still empty room, a moment which makes her realize her chance to tour Quebec with her first solo show. “Every time, I say to myself: “It can’t be that it’s going to be full soon.” I can’t believe it,” she said.

The artist, who won the Revelation prize at the Just for Laughs Festival in 2023, first became known on the TikTok application. She admits having to reduce her presence on the platform due to her busy schedule, accumulating appearances on and radio for several years.

“I just started doing this so I could create, so I could do business and be active. There, I would say that my schedule is quite full. I would like to do more of that. But at the same time, I worked to be able to have these opportunities. There is a balance that needs to be found,” she concludes.

Performance dates for Mégan Brouillard’s first solo show are posted until December 2025.
