“I don’t talk about it often, but…” Shantel VanSanten talks about the harassment she experienced on the set of the series

A few years ago, several actresses from the series The Scott Brothers lifted the veil on the harassment they suffered on set from the creator. Discreet on this subject, Shantel VanSanten, who played Quinn, spoke about this period in an interview given to Tele-Leisure.

For many viewers, The Scott Brothers has remained, almost 13 years after its end, a cult series in which we return to with nostalgia. But for the actresses who contributed to its success, it’s not the same story. In November 2017, many collaborators of the creator of the series, Mark Schwahn, signed an open letter where they accused him of sexual harassment on various sets. Among these women who broke the silence, we notably found Hilarie Burton (Peyton), Sophia Bush (Brooke) and Danneel Ackles (Rachel). Subsequently, each detailed the toxic atmosphere in which they worked on a daily basis on the set of Scott Brothers.

After her arrival in the series, Shantel VanSanten, the interpreter of Quinn, also had to deal with this behavior. During an interview for Tele-Leisure on the occasion of her visit to the Monte Carlo Television Festival in June 2024, the actress, who spoke about her relationship with Bethany Joy Lenz, agreed to talk about this complicated period. “I don’t talk about it often because I like the fact that fans continue to immerse themselves in this series, she told us. But I must say that there are around sixty women who signed this letter against the person we must not talk about. I’m part of it. It’s something we’ve had to survive in different ways, and we’ve found a way to heal. It’s really wonderful to have this sisterhood where everyone supports the other.”
