The President of the National Assembly announces that she was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. She calls on women to get tested.
It is with words full of emotion that Yaël Braun-Pivet reveals that he suffered from breast cancer in the greatest of secrets. “Like more than 60,000 women each year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer just 3 years ago. As for them, it was a bolt from the blue in my life,” confides the President of the National Assembly on Ladies. “No one is prepared for having cancer. Like them, I lived with the uncertainty of the diagnosis, the anxiety of the operation, the wait for the analysis results, the daily life of the treatments,” she says again in her tweet.
-First woman elected to the presidency of the National Assembly in July 2022, Yaël Braun-Pivet shares that it was in January 2022, as part of her “good New Year’s resolutions”, that she decided to make an appointment you for a mammogram. “Like many, I have sometimes left the envelopes from the national screening campaign or my doctor’s prescription lying around on the living room table,” she admits. “In 2022, in the series of New Year’s resolutions, I said to myself: ‘Come on, I’m going now’. I made an appointment for a mammogram… and that’s when my cancer was detected.”
“Today, I am doing well,” she reassures, adding that she is now on hormone therapy and regularly monitored “by a team of caregivers who throughout this process have been tremendously committed and dedicated.” . And if Yaël Braun-Pivet comes out of silence today, it is to strongly encourage the French not to neglect control meetings. “If you need to make a good resolution at the start of the year, I can only recommend that you go get tested,” she says with conviction. A simple gesture but one that can make all the difference.
