Pamela Anderson considers the success of “The Last Showgirl” as revenge for the past and the series “Pam & Tommy”

Pamela Anderson says the success of “The Last Showgirl” is “the best revenge” she could have taken after “Pam & Tommy.”

In full promotion of the film “The Last Showgirl”, in which her performance literally dazzled her first spectators, Pamela Anderson spoke about “Pam & Tommy”, a 2022 series which looked back on the lackluster affair of her sex tape, a program commissioned by Hulu that had, she said, been made without her participation or permission.

The actress explains that her current joy at experiencing a true renaissance in her career is all the stronger as she suffered a lot to see “Pam & Tommy” achieve immense success… thanks to one of the most difficult periods of his life. “I discovered the Hulu affair while filming my documentary on Netflix, ‘Pamela, a Love Story’,” she explained Thursday on Andy Cohen Live on the SiriusXM station. “I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t involved. No one called me, which was very strange and hurtful,” she said.

The series “Pam & Tommy,” which starred Lily James as Pamela Anderson and Sebastian Stan as her husband in the 1990s, Tommy Lee, also decided to tell this traumatic story in a humorous, poking fun at how the couple’s home video had been stolen from their safe by an electrician (played by Seth Rogen) and sold online as a raunchy sex tape.

The actress also told Andy Cohen that Hulu never contacted her to make things right after the fact. “I won’t dwell on it, but it was kind of strange to pick a very difficult time in my life and do entertainment with it, and see people nominated for Emmy Awards and all sorts of things,” she added. “And that’s why I was laughing with someone the other day – Pete Hammond was saying to me, ‘All these people won awards playing you, but not you’… I guess they did it better than me.”

“I am recognized for my work”

About the success she is receiving today with “The Last Showgirl,” Pamela Anderson said: “It happened and now I’m here, and so it’s the best revenge…I’m being seen and recognized for my work and not for these lousy moments.”

“The Last Showgirl” directed by Gia Coppola, which was released Friday in theaters in the United States, and which currently has no date in , garnered positive reviews during its broadcasts in various festivals, in notably receiving the jury prize at the San Sebastian festival.

Some critics said the actress deserved an Oscar nomination for her performance. “Pamela put her heart and soul into the character of Shelley and captivated us from the start,” said Christian Jungen, artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival. It’s a remarkable performance, perhaps the best of his career, and worthy of an Oscar nomination. Will she receive it? It would be a brilliant return to the light for the 57-year-old actress. We will have to wait until January 19 to find out.

In “The Last Showgirl”, Pamela Anderson plays a fifty-year-old dancer from Las Vegas, forced to change her life after the closure of the place where she had been performing for thirty years. Shelley finds herself overnight looking for a new job alongside her fellow dancers Jodie (Kiernan Shipka) and Mary-Anne (Brenda Song). At the same time, she must manage a tense relationship with her daughter, Hannah (Billie Lourd), and try to see more clearly in her complicated love life.

In this film which raises questions about the American dream, femininity and identity, Pamela Anderson offers a performance which recalls her own Hollywood history, as explained by a journalist from Entertainment Weekly, who was able to see the preview at the Toronto festival. According to him, her story as a sex symbol, her escapades and her crossing of the desert give her character a depth and richness that no other actress could have given in her place.
