Stéphane Plaza is on trial before the 10th chamber of the Paris judicial court for “habitual violence by a partner”. At the bar, the host contests all of the facts with which he is accused.
“It’s very simple, these are false statements, slander.” The line of defense of the PAF real estate agent has not changed since the start of the affair, and the publication of an article by Mediapart. Tried for “habitual violence by a partner”, this Thursday, January 9 before the 10th chamber of the Paris judicial court, Stéphane Plaza denies all physical and psychological violence against two of his former partners.
“I have never been violent in my life,” says the host in a blue suit. “I am far from perfect, I have flaws, but I am not violent.”
His defense consists, in part, of making the victims look like liars. During the investigation, he claimed to be himself a victim of this affair, announcing that he was filing a complaint for harassment against the two women who accused him. A complaint dismissed this Tuesday, January 7.
Assaults, threats, control: Stéphane Plaza tried for violence against two ex-partners
“There was no altercation”
At the Paris judicial court, Questioned about an episode of physical violence denounced by one of the complainants, and during which she allegedly received a punch in the shoulder while she was on the phone with her mother, Stéphane Plaza assures: “there was no violence”. “Why the mother is making this statement, I don’t know. But I’m going to say everything… I refute all the acts of violence, and this one, yes,” continues the 54-year-old host.
According to his account, his partner at the time gave him “a fit of jealousy” after an impromptu dance on the tables during a dinner with scallops and champagne at a large house. “I don’t say anything,” he says. Back at home, the host said he continued to drink alcohol. “After dinner, I sleep. I sleep, I sleep and I snore,” adds Stéphane Plaza. “There was no altercation. I slept.”
Questioned about a second episode of physical violence denounced by the same complainant, and during which the host broke one of his fingers and allegedly dislocated two others, Stéphane Plaza recognizes “an accident” but provides his justification: he “does not control [sa] force.”
“I’m dyspraxic (a person who has difficulty carrying out certain gestures and voluntary actions, Editor’s note). I’ve hurt many people. But physically, I don’t pin them against the wall.”

According to him, the facts took place, again, in the context of a scene of jealousy. “She freaks out, says to me, ‘You’re an asshole.’ loudly. I tell her, ‘Listen, I’d better leave,’ and she blocks my way.”
Stéphane Plaza ensures that the young woman raised her hand in the air. “I took it and sent it down,” he explains, miming the gesture. “That’s why I’m unhappy about this accident and why I apologize.”
“I’m a bastard”
At the bar of the court, Stéphane Plaza appears very combative, but also very agitated during his interrogation. He speaks very loudly, moves a lot. He mimes and re-mimes the scenes that he is criticized for and that he contests. So much so that the court questions him about how he experiences this hearing.
“I’m a jerk. I’m a freak. I’m even, I can say it, I’m a coward. But I’m not violent. I went to associations to help women,” explains the host.
“Something serious is being touched deep inside me. I’m being humiliated. My name is stained. And whatever anyone says, they’ll say ‘Stéphane Plaza, there is a doubt’.” The animator even claims to have lost contracts because of the affair: “I had to shoot for a Marvel in the United States. When you are suspected of violence, it’s over. You no longer go to Disney. is over. I’m not making any more films.
Stéphane Plaza faces a sentence of up to ten years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros. The decision will not be made this Thursday, January 9. The president of the court plans to deliver his decision on Tuesday February 18 at 1:30 p.m.
