“Barred from territory” in Algeria
According to his lawyer, he was taken to Paris on Thursday afternoon, from where he was able to contact his relatives and his counsel from the airport tarmac just before his plane took off, said Me Mousset, regretting that “ the government has[it] precipitated his expulsion” even though he had lodged appeals.
But according to a police source, he was finally sent back to France in the evening, Algeria having “banned him from territory”.
He called for “making an Algerian opponent suffer”
Placed on Tuesday in an administrative detention center (CRA) in Nîmes, this 59-year-old man was theoretically to be judged on February 24 for “public provocation to commit a crime” after a TikTok video in which he called for “making suffer” an opposing demonstrator to the government of Algiers.
The Hérault prefecture announced Tuesday on social networks that it had decided to withdraw his residence permit, with “immediate placement in an administrative detention center with a view to his removal”, estimating that “public provocations to commit an crime or misdemeanor and legitimizing torture constitute serious threats to public order.”
