Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the National Front (FN) and central figure in the French political landscape for more than fifty years, died at the age of 96 in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine), in an establishment where he had been admitted several weeks ago. “Jean-Marie Le Pen, surrounded by his family, was called back to God this Tuesday at 12 p.m.”his family told AFP. The one who participated as a paratrooper in the Algerian war had, among other things, been assigned to missions in Algiers during which he was involved in military operations which gave rise to numerous accusations of torture, which he has always been denied. Known for his extreme ideas, numerous tributes have nevertheless appeared on the web since the announcement of his death. Wednesday January 8, in his editorial opening the show “L’Heure des Pros” on CNEWS, the columnist launched without any measure: “Jean-Marie Le Pen said, when no one was saying it yet, that Islam would change the face of France”. And to detail earlier: “Whatever one thinks of Jean-Marie Le Pen, he effectively summarizes, embodies and illustrates French history. Because he was a deputy of the Fourth Republic. Because he was the man he was under the Fifth Republic. The opponent, in particular, of Jacques Chirac. And because he will have been present and influenced the political debate for all these years, since the creation of the National Front in 1972.” This speech sparked numerous reactions, including that of comedian Jason Brokerrs.
“You idiot, arsonist firefighter who doesn’t think.”
Angry, the latter posted a message on X, former Twitter, in order to share his thoughts. He spoke directly to Pascal Praud in response to a video publication from Europe 1 in which the host made his controversial remarks. “You see what we were telling you. First the danger was terrorism, then jihadism, then extremism and other radicalism, today the danger is just Islam. The real danger of This country is made up of hate mongers like you Pascal Praud, you idiot, arsonist firefighter who doesn’t think further than the end of his old mouth.”he wrote. In comments on his speech, many Internet users validated his remarks and one Twitter user commented ironically: “Le Pen, a whistleblower, I didn’t see that one coming”.
