Bad buzz: “This is why the world doesn’t like you, Meghan”

If Meghan Markle intended to give new impetus to her popularity rating, it is probably not her latest collaboration with Netflix that will help her in this endeavor. Because the least we can say is that the trailer for “With Love, Meghan” was received rather coolly, both on social networks and in the British press. THE Guardianfor example, offered a mocking criticism: “We are not looking for perfection,” Meghan assures us, from the depths of a luxurious farmhouse kitchen the size of an airplane hangar,” quips the daily.

Expert on the royal family, Richard Fitzwilliams believes in the Daily Mail that this clip is “worthy of Disney” and that “it’s all about Meghan”. The columnist regrets that Harry and Meghan did not choose to help the royal family in their own way, “constructively”. “They could have taken on a particular role, especially in the Commonwealth, that was what Queen Elizabeth wanted,” he believes. Instead, Meghan Markle is embarking on “an exercise in celebrity at its most superficial.”

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late John McCain, former American presidential candidate, said all the bad things she thought of the Duchess of Sussex: “Originally, I was a supporter of Meghan Markle, I found her cool, elegant and refreshing. Like the rest of the world, my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family,” she wrote on X. The American criticizes her compatriot for being “disconnected from reality.” “Do something to help people instead of worrying about your ego. That’s why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else,” added Meghan McCain.

Cautiously, Meghan Markle took care to deactivate the comments under her Instagram publication. On other social networks, however, Internet users are having a blast. As of Sunday, the trailer had generated 11,000 “likes” and… 98,000 “dislikes”. The next day, by midday, the number of thumbs facing up had reached 13,000. As for the thumbs facing down… their number was no longer visible. The comments were always open. And to find a single positive remark in this flood of harsh reactions, you have to get up early.

“The world is in bad shape and most of us are struggling with the cost of living. She is completely off the mark,” protested a user. “For a cooking show to work, the celebrity in question must be popular,” says another Internet user. “She wrote to a washing-up liquid company to complain that they had insinuated that women’s place was in the kitchen. And she ends up staging herself in a kitchen,” we can still read.

“Imagine marrying a member of a royal family, a prince, finding yourself at the top, with incredible wealth and many opportunities, only to choose to return to that,” summarizes one user. “The world is on fire, but Meghan Markle is here to teach us how to make gourmet donuts and sophisticated floral arrangements,” quips Link Lauren, royal family commentator, on X.
