With her legendary good nature, it's hard to say that Maïté is no longer in this world. The funeral of the most famous television cook took place Thursday morning in her village of Rion-des-Landes (Landes). Marie-Thérèse Ordonez, known as Maïté, died at the town's nursing home a few days before Christmas.
Around 300 people were present for the funeral: his family, neighbors and residents of Rion and Landes. Inside the church, a photo of Maïté in a kitchen apron had been installed near the coffin.

At the banquet, “God will serve you” declared Father Dubroca, according to comments reported by South West. The priest remembered a woman “with great humor and modesty”. A former manager of France 3 present at the mass assured him: “Dear Maïté, you will be able to invade the kitchens of paradise. The angels will feast.”
During the celebration, one of Maïté's two granddaughters spoke. “She gave everything she had to those who needed it. She sang to cheer up anyone who would listen. My grandmother, she was a force of nature,” Camille said before to add: “I ask you: eat, sing and drink in his honor.” Then she turned towards the coffin: “I love you. You can be sure of that. I tell you one last time: adishatz” (“farewell” in Gascon).
Having left at the age of 86, Maïté joins her only son Serge, who died of cancer in 2013, and her husband Jean-Pierre who left in 2020.
