Jean-Luc Reichmann has come a long way. Years ago, the presenter of Twelve Coups de Midia special edition of which was broadcast on the evening of December 24 on TF1, was the victim of a motorcycle accident which almost killed him. He was even “declared dead” in the ambulance. With difficulty, the 64-year-old presenter was able to get back on track…

The tragedy dates back to 1984. At the time, he was 24 years old when he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. And the accident he suffered was so serious that he almost stayed there. “I heard the police say 'he is dead'. And then I went back into a coma for quite a while.“, he revealed on the microphone of the podcast InPower.

Jean-Luc Reichmann finally came out of the coma, not without after-effects but with a real rage for life. “My grandfather actually told me: 'You had a one in five chance of getting out, you took that chance'. When you spend a year immobilized on a bed, in a wheelchair or on crutches, you tell yourself that you have to create the good life you want.“, he explained in a recent interview with 7 Days TV. A will to live which translated into a desire to give to others: “What I try to do at my own small level, by instilling as much positivity as possible“.

Jean-Luc Reichmann, devastated by “psychological suffering”

The presenter of Twelve Coups de Midi therefore overcame the difficult period which followed his accident and went through months of difficult convalescence, but he found it difficult to accept the contempt shown by the driver who had hit him. “The worst was the psychological suffering of this injustice of the guy who at the time was 74 years old who had an attack (…) he never came to see me to say 'hello, how are you?', n “never heard from me”, he detailed to the InPower podcast.

However, at the time, Jean-Luc Reichmann had taken the step of going to this famous driver to give him his news: “I see myself a year later on my crutches saying: 'Hello sir, I'm the person you knocked over a year ago.' The guy on his stoop at the end says: 'Talk to my lawyer, you were driving too fast‘”.
