Renaud reassures about his health and announces a new album for 2026

While fans of the “Mistral Gagnant” singer were worried about his state of health, singer Renaud wanted to reassure them. He also announced an album for early 2026.

Still alive, rest assured. While he has just completed a tour of 131 concerts, three dates of which were canceled without giving any reason, Renaud wanted to reassure his audience about his state of health. And to offer a nice surprise to his fans with an album planned for early 2026.

“I wrote a text about George Floyd”

The square outlines of Renaud's next album are taking shape, with content reflecting the image of the French song activist, bottle-fed in May 68. The 72-year-old artist has in fact declared that among the titles appearing in his next album, whose release is hoped for at the beginning of 2026, a text would be dedicated to a man who has become a figure of police violence in the United States. “I wrote a text for Georges Floyd,” confides the singer in an interview with Le Parisien. His murder by a police officer in 2020 in Minnesota brought racial inequalities to the surface across the Atlantic.

An album like a clever mix between committed song and modesty, since the interpreter of “Laisse concret” also shared a text for his daughter, to whom he had already dedicated “Morgue de toi”, and for his son.

“I'm having a little trouble. Lack of inspiration”

The years pass for the man who, last May, put the ring on the finger of his wife Cerise. But Renaud still wanted to reassure about his state of health, which worried many fans during his last concerts. “I gave up alcohol three and a half years ago, and cigarettes a year and nine months ago. I smoke one cigarette a month. The next one is January 10,” said the singer.

However, Renaud admits, creating a new album is not an easy task. “I'm working on it, but I'm having a little trouble, it's difficult to get out. Lack of inspiration. This will be my 17th album!” admitted the nostalgic revolutionary. But the voice damaged by excess, the exercise of the recording studio and concerts are no longer easy for the singer with the red scarf. “People put up with it. They sing with me,” explained Renaud. “I rehearse before all my concerts, between six and ten songs. And despite everything, it's quite difficult. But hey, I’m getting there,” he continued.

A voice hoarse by the years, but which does not prevent Renaud from multiplying projects. In 2025 he will celebrate his 50th career, with “a beautiful book, a documentary, a big concert” and his participation in a “festival at the Francofolies de la Rochelle, a creation on July 10, 2025 with only artists of the new generation “, he clarified.
