Adeline Toniutti returns with “Anatomie du chant”: If I have to say what others want to hear, I prefer to say nothing at all”

Adeline Toniutti singing teacher of the “Star Academy”, it's over

Did your time at Star Academy as a teacher help you continue writing this book?

“Yes, Star Ac made it easier to find a publisher, which replaced my self-publishing project. Basically, this book was intended for my students. I had this idea because, following the accident, I told myself that if I died without having shared my experience, it would be a tragedy for me not to have been able to share my experience. The Star Ac made this project possible.”

Were the pivots well defined before this role as professor?

“It was defined in my head, but I hadn't written it down. My expertise was clear, but I hadn't written it all out yet. Now I work instinctively, but at first, when writing, I I realized that it's not that simple, once you write, you have to make sure that it applies to everyone. That's the challenge, especially for a work like this. The book is quite well illustrated, and there are some references at the Star Ac, like the little character (Adeline herself, Editor’s note) in red with the jogging pants.”

Have you had any feedback from artists who have put your methods into practice?

“Yes, I have coached quite a few artists using this method. I notably coached Michèle Laroque for her film. I also worked with Vitaa at Star Ac, in front of everyone. Recently, Magali Ripoll, from “Don’t forget the words”, told me that she had read the book and that she found it incredible. She said to me: “Adeline, I’m hallucinating!” enormous pleasure, because that she is a professional herself, Natacha Saint-Pierre was also eager to read it. She told me: “The work that has been done is incredible.” .

After her ouster from “Star Academy”, Adeline Toniutti lands a new role on television

Magali Ripoll, who will be found in “What will be the best choir in ?”, how did it happen?

“It was great! I was contacted to be part of the jury, now that I was freed from my duties at TF1. I was with Vincent (Niclo Editor’s note)with whom I did a Céline Dion duet. We get along very well, the two of us are a little crazy together. I joined the France Télévisions team for this project. It was a bit like Star AC, but as a jury this time. I gave technical advice and brought my energy. I had a blast, and I even sang “The Prayer” with Vincent live at 1am. We were exhausted, but it was great!”

There was still quite a controversy surrounding your playback during your appearance on stage at the Star Academy this year…

There is always an element of jealousy when we succeed. Honestly, that's what I think. I went from being on the jury to going on stage to sing. There are people who just want to destroy, I think. You even know Celine Dion, people like Lady Gaga who do the same. At the Olympics, for example, people said that Lady Gaga lip-synced. There are technical conditions where it is impossible to sing live and where playback must be used.

Is it less stressful, or did you feel greater freedom having gone from TF1 to France 2?

I don't know if it's freer, but in any case, I felt very well received by France Télévisions. I felt at home. Afterwards, with the experience I have today, I am also more relaxed. You know, when you do so many live shows, in the end, you no longer feel the same pressure. When I started at Star Academy, I was stressed even before giving my singing lessons live on . Today, I am much more comfortable. Especially since, being more of an artist than a singing teacher, it frees me from the pressure of the traditional role of teacher. I can be myself, a little crazier.

You were told at the last minute that you would no longer be a teacher at Star Academy. How did you honestly experience it?

I experienced it as a big change. You know, there are things in life where you think you're following a trajectory that's set and all of a sudden, bam, it's going somewhere else. That’s a bit what it did to me. That is to say, I had gotten used to going to the castle and having this role. I could have done that for the rest of my life, I loved doing that so much. It was a shock but I welcomed it with maturity and wisdom. And I tell myself that it opened other doors for me and that I'm going to do other things.

Accident, anorexia, domestic violence… Adeline Toniutti reveals herself in a poignant and moving autobiography

Would you be willing to come back next year if we offered it to you?

“Next year or in five years, I don't know. No, really, I feel honored to have been the singing teacher on this show, to have given what it gave, to have obtained the results we had I had the chance to live this incredible experience So, obviously, I am not against a return to the Star Academy I love television in general, live, and even playing. comedy is a passion of mine.

Do you already have other projects?

Yes, I have two more books in mind. I will continue to write about vocal technique, but in a less complex way, because I am well aware that the singing method was a real challenge. But I also have more personal projects in mind, particularly on my life, and on more intimate subjects. There are also novels in preparation, particularly on showbiz. And then there is this biography that I would like to see brought to the screen. We already have a producer, we just need to find a channel for it. Finally, I want to play comedy, to act in cinema. I talked about it with my friend Michèle Laroque so I hope it happens.

It is said of you that you have remained true to yourself despite everything, are you going to continue to say things as you mean them?

Yes, absolutely. For me, honesty is essential. I prefer to be real, even if it can be disturbing, rather than conforming to a certain format. My father would also tell me: if I have to say what others want to hear, I prefer not to say anything at all. I want to be able to own all my words, even when I'm 70 or 80 years old. I don't want to have regrets. It's really important to me to be true to myself, no matter what.
