Spanish actress Marisa Paredes has died at age 78, announces the Spanish Film Academy
She was one of the adored women, magnified by Pedro Almódovar, with six films shot for the camera of the great Movida filmmaker. Spanish actress Marisa Paredes has died at the age of 78, the Spanish Cinema Academy announced on Tuesday. “Spanish cinema loses one of its most emblematic actresses, Marisa Paredes, who leaves behind a long career during which the public was able to see her more than 75 times on the big screen,” declared the Cinema Academy Spanish on X.
“Stiletto heels”, “The flower of my secret”, “All about my mother”…
After starting out at the age of 14, Marisa Paredes' career took on a new dimension after her first collaboration in 1983 with director Pedro Almódovar, for the film “In the Darkness”. They will then work together for “Heels stilettos”, “The flower of my secret”, “All about my mother”, “Parle avec elle” and “La piel que habito”, in 2011, their last collaboration.

Rewarded among others by an honorary Goya in 2018, during the Spanish equivalent of the César ceremony, Marisa Paredes has also appeared in international productions such as “Life is beautiful”, by the Italian Roberto Benigni, or “ The Devil's Back”, by Mexican Guillermo del Toro. Marisa Paredes chaired the Spanish Cinema Academy between 2000 and 2003.
