An Iranian singer was briefly arrested on Saturday December 14 for giving a concert without wearing the veil, obligatory in the country, also defying the ban on singing imposed on women under the Islamic Republic.
Opposition media and activists expressed solidarity with the artist and paid tribute to a woman who, in the continuity of the 2022 uprising, dared to break taboos in the country of the mullahs.
Aged 27, Parastou Ahmadi aroused the anger of the Iranian regime by broadcasting a concert on Friday on her YouTube page. The courts announced a few hours later that they had filed a complaint against her for having “violates Muslim law”. She was arrested on Saturday afternoon by police with two of her instrumentalists in northern Iran before being released overnight.
