Discovering an ancient Egyptian tomb is one thing… But what about the discovery of an ancient Egyptian tomb on which there is a painting that bears a striking resemblance to a character from the cult American animated series The Simpsons?

That’s precisely what happened when a 3,000-year-old tomb was discovered in an ancient cemetery in the Egyptian city ofAl-Minyaon the west bank of the Nile, with the top cover resembling Marge Simpson.

The painting depicts a woman with yellow skin, wearing a blue crown and wearing a green outfit. That’s absolutely correct!

See for yourself:

The photo went viral on a Reddit thread – poetically and aptly called ArtefactPorn – and netizens were quick to point out the striking resemblance.

Internet users were quick to point out the striking resemblance. “Oh my god it’s Marge Simpson,” one wrote, while another said: “Only documented time in history the Simpsons didn’t do it first “.

This second comment refers to the popular conspiracy theory which claims that The Simpsons can predict world events. We wrote a full article about it iciand this theory made headlines twice during this year’s US presidential elections: here (in English) and ici.

Today, a new chapter opens: ancient Egypt is said to have predicted The Simpsons.

If the Internet may be amused by this discovery, it should be noted that in reality, the painting represents the daughter of a high priest of El-Ashmunein called Tadi Ist.

The cemetery dates back to the “New Kingdom, 20th dynasty (around 1186-1069 BC)”. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities added in a statement that ornaments, amulets and coffins had also been discovered.

“This is a rare and important scene. Every scene of the hour has its form,” Mostafa Waziry, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, told The Egyptian Gazette.

Okay, but have we considered that Marge Simpson is not just a cartoon character, but a time-traveling goddess who has influenced countless civilizations throughout history?

Okay, don’t pay attention. It’s probably best not to give anyone crazy ideas…
