After banking and finance, he reconverted and created personalized wooden paintings

After working in a bank for 17 years, then being a self-employed broker for four years, Tom Wood now devotes himself to creating personalized wooden paintings. He was present on Sunday 1is December at the Christmas market at La Cressonnière, in Saint-Barthélemy-d’Anjou.

What motivated your change of path, this reconversion?

Tom Wood : “I was in a bank near and when my wife was transferred to , no longer supporting being an employee, I decided to set up my own business as a broker. This left me some free time and as I always loved manual work, I started making furniture from pallets. »

And what was the rest of your journey?

“My pallet furniture was quite successful, I sold a few, but this work required too much handling. I then discovered fretwork which allows sinuous cuts in materials. I then began to create relief paintings inspired in part by manga, but I create them on all themes, on demand. »

Do you have a workshop?

“No, I work in the garage of my house, in Saint-Barthélemy-d’Anjou, with my scroll saw, which does not require a big investment. I don’t know what to call my paintings which are a mix between fretwork and marquetry. I currently have 100 models available, each limited to 30 copies. »
