The Lavardenais Pierre Bessagnet exhibited in Fleurance on Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1, on the occasion of the Photographic Meetings of the Phot’Art fair organized by the Photo-Club de Gascogne, where he was invited. He thus installed, on the walls of the Eloi-Castaing room in Fleurance, 5 of his photographs, among the works of the 50 photographers expected.
Pierre Bessagnet had a camera in his hands at the age of 18. He started with black and white, then he moved to color with film and finally to digital. He visited “the 4 corners of the world, such as Vietnam, Cuba, Chile, the United States and of course Lavardens”. He made two films, portraits of artists from the Gers or those living in the Gers: in 1986, “Chambas dans l’arene”, on the painter Jean-Paul Chambas born in Vic-Fezensac and, in 1988, “Guy Lafitte” , about the famous jazz saxophonist. This film was broadcast on “M6” in 1989, filmed in Tournan, Marciac and New York.
Pierre Bessagnet, born in Indochina, was a French teacher in Toulouse and joined the University Teacher Training Institute to train future school teachers. In 2023 he wrote “The History of a Family, the Bessagnet de Lavardens” and also sings as an amateur in a group specializing in Corsican polyphonies.
