A summer of glory and passion for Tony Estanguet
Tony Estanguet had an absolutely epic summer. At the helm of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the three-time canoe slalom champion transformed a ten-year project into a historic moment for France. With more than 9.5 million tickets sold and 64 French medals, including 16 gold, the event exceeded all expectations.
In an interview with 50′ inside on TF1, he admits: “I had an extraordinary adventure, an unforgettable summer. It was beautiful, it was magical!” A success which was not only sporting, but also popular, as the presenter Arthur testifies: “The girls were swooning!”
The man behind the Games president
Behind this sex symbol image, Tony Estanguet remains above all a man of family and challenges. Married to Laëtitia, father of three boys, he knew how to maintain a fragile balance during these intense years.
“You obviously had to accept. You owe a lot to your soul mate and your other half. There is a lot of mutual support, we encourage each other, we support each other”he confides.
Regarding his status as “sex-symbol”he reacts with humor: “I didn't see that!“And his wife brought him back with his feet on the ground: “If from time to time we need to set the record straight, she does it very well.”
After the Olympics: the quest for a new challenge for Tony Estanguet
Despite the success, Tony Estanguet feels the need to recharge his batteries. “I pulled on the rope a little”, he admits.
