Madame Figaro.- What acting pleasure did you satisfy with this horror film?
Hugh Grant.- I'm not sure it's that different from any other movie. We're just trying to make the character realistic and entertaining. Here, I particularly wanted this guy to be someone who thinks that the whole evening he spends with these girls is fun: fun for him, fun for them… Even if things get darker and twisted and terrifying.

How is Daniel Cleaver, your character in Bridget Jones ?
I've always loved Daniel, I love the character, I think I understand him. We invented a whole “intermediary” story for him between Bridget Jones 2 (2004), when we last met him, and this one. Bridget Jones 4 is a wonderful story. It is mainly the story of Bridget, who raises her children alone after the death of Mark Darcy. But there wasn't really an obvious role for Daniel Cleaver in this. I worked with the writers and we found one. I wrote most of my own scenes because I know Daniel, I know what he would say and I enjoyed doing it.

What is your view on cinema today?
One of the beautiful things about the movie business is that it's so competitive that, as an actor or technician, no one is late, no one is ever sick, no one is ever unpleasant. Everyone is positive, it’s wonderful teamwork. And it always makes me sad that in other areas of life we don't have the same standards. You know when people come to fix your house and the technicians are horrible.

Do you like getting older?
I'm a little too old for some things… I wish I could play better tennis. It's quite relaxing not to be so preoccupied anymore. I've been around, especially in show business. Nothing can really hurt me. Little storms break out and it just makes me laugh, it will pass.
