The City of Trois-Pistoles has announced the winners of the 2024 photo competition. Their works will be exhibited in the offices and meeting rooms of city hall in the coming weeks.
Following the competition’s launch on September 16, 37 artists submitted 126 photos. The competition was open to everyone, residents and non-residents. Only condition: that the photos are taken on the territory of Trois-Pistoles.
On November 1, the committee composed of Catherine Fiset, clerk at the City of Trois-Pistoles, Yannick Ouellet, municipal councilor, and Jessica D’Amours-Fraser, citizen of Trois-Pistoles, anonymously selected twelve photos from the 126 received.
Here is the list of winners and the prizes they won:
- 1er prix ($300): Mathieu Prezelin
- 2nd prize ($200 each): Sophie Leclerc Rioux, Gilles Dionne and Manon Jean
- 3rd prize ($100 each): Isabelle Renald, Carole-Anne Jalbert, Émile Dionne, Guy Dubé, Jean Boileau, Line Lamarre (2 photos) and Manon Jean
On behalf of the entire City team, the selection committee would like to thank and congratulate all the participants. “Participating in this committee was truly a great experience for all three of us. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and diversity of the photos. It was interesting to discover different points of view, to see the city from an unusual angle. We really realized that our city could be represented through artistic and poetic photos. We made our selection with criteria in mind (richness of the subject, originality of the point of view, diversity of locations, framing, technical quality and ultimately poetry in the image) and we are really proud of the result.”
For some artists, this will be the first opportunity to present their works publicly. The City of Trois-Pistoles is committed to stimulating the creativity of its citizens who highlight their vision for the benefit of visitors to Trois-Pistoles. Thus, in 2025, it will launch other initiatives to offer means of expression and dissemination to the community.
