Mika: this handicap from which he suffered greatly

Only a few days left before the new edition of the Telethon. This year it is Mika who was chosen to be its godfather and the singer seems to take his role very seriously. If he decided to get involved with sick children, the artist is also known for actively fighting against school bullying, having been a victim of it when he was younger.

In an interview with Info, Mika speaks about these painful years marked by bullying and mockery. The opportunity for him to return to his illness.

Mika exemplary sponsor of the Telethon

It is this Saturday, November 30, 2024 that the big evening of the Telethon will be held. Mika, who is this year's godfather, is currently making numerous public appearances to evoke this symbolic role. Very involved, the singer went to meet researchers, but also families affected by rare diseases.

This Thursday, November 28, 2024, he was on the set of the show “C à vous”, to launch a call for donations. “The Telethon belongs to the French people. What they have accomplished since the first Telethon is concrete, remarkable, and there is still much to do. Many diseases don't yet have treatments, and some don't even have names, just numbers. However, the research and treatments resulting from these efforts have applications for many other areas.“, said the artist.

A sad testimony

At the same time, Mika gave an interview to France Info in which he spoke about his childhood. “For my first day of high school, I was dressed in my yellow shorts, yellow shirt, yellow bow tie with polka dots. It wasn't great. It was crap. That's where I lost a kind of innocence” remembered the 41-year-old singer.

And to add: “It wasn't easy, I had a lot of problems at school with dyslexia. I couldn't read. I couldn't write. I started to shut myself away. I stopped talking. This is where I had a lot of problems with a teacher and I was fired. I was 7-8 years old at the time…”.

The artist then explains how his mother convinced him to take refuge in music and how a woman, originally from Russia, taught him the piano. A testimony warmly welcomed by Internet users.
