An aborted collaboration with Oasis in the 90s
Matlock also revealed that he was approached to work with Oasis in the 90s: “There were talks about me helping them on bass around 1995-1996, but they settled it with another guy. I was invited to see them at Earl's Court. I left before the end. It was boring. Later I saw them in New York with Clem Burke from Blondie. No, I couldn’t stay.”
Liam Gallagher's scathing response
When Matlock's comments were brought to the attention of Liam Gallagher, the latter responded in his direct, unfiltered style. On X, a fan asked him what he thought of Matlock's remarks. Liam's response was concise: “Fuck him. Sid, it was the Pistols.”
In this statement, Liam refers to Sid Vicious, who replaced Matlock as bassist for the Sex Pistols in 1977, a tumultuous time in the band's history.
Parallel tours for 2025?
As Oasis begin their highly anticipated reunion tour on July 4 in Cardiff, rumors are swirling of a Sex Pistols tour in 2025, with Frank Carter replacing Johnny Rotten.
