An emblematic face of the French music scene for many years, Philippe Katerine is also an essential figure on the big screen. Having recently generated huge buzz during his performance during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the musician has just released a new album inspired by his dog, called Zouzou. As part of the promotion of this record, Philippe Katerine gave a long interview to Evening Mag. During this interview, the artist spoke in particular about his hobbies. “I love sitting in the corners of rooms, to observe what surrounds me: the architecture, the colors, and the people of course. I am very contemplative. I like to look, to integrate, but not to tell, at least not in my songs. I love drawing on the other hand, since childhood, it allows me to better understand what I see. I also make sculptures, XXL formats, which look like bubbles from chewing gum. Or portraits with wire“, he first indicated.
“I make children's books, (…) I also exhibit. In recent years, I presented my works in Paris, Sweden, Montreal, Switzerland. There, I will exhibit my cute works in Lille. I started a movement, Cuteness, which consists of drawing cute things to talk about hard things. I even wrote a Manifesto, but I am the only member of the movement currently. I may be exhibiting in Belgium soon, and there it would be with sculptures, XXL formats, all round, all pink. (…) I love Barbapapa, it’s one of my references. Being able to transform into anything, take any form, it's awesome“, also added Philippe Katerine subsequently. The actor therefore asserts himself as a complete artist who practices comedy, singing, drawing, writing and sculpture.
Philippe Katerine dedicated a song from his new album to his eldest daughter
During this same interview, the musician also spoke about his eldest daughter, Edie Blanchard, to whom he dedicated a song. “The idea for this piece was born when we were participating in karaoke, on a song by Angèle, where she took her voice. A karaoke points system, which takes into account the accuracy, the resemblance of the voice… She obviously beat me! I didn't even know she could imitate Angèle“he explained. “She doesn't plan to make a career out of it. His thing is more directing. She also writeshowever, clarified the one who shares the life of actress Julie Depardieu.
