Grand Corps Malade is a happy man. Proud of the success of Mr Aznavourwith Tahar Rahim in the role of the late singer, which he produced with Mehdi Idir, the artist is currently on tour and in the home stretch of 2024. To try to end the latter in style, the singer will pass through Nice on Sunday December 1st, at the Palais Nikaïa. For the occasion, the one who will sing on stage the texts of his eighth album called “Reflections”confided in our colleagues at Nice-Morning this Tuesday, November 26. At the end of the tour, Fabien Marsaud, his real name, admitted that he felt “a form of little anticipated nostalgia”. “You know that there was a huge set-up, rehearsals… There are forty of us in the team, we've done a lot of big rooms, Arenas. And then suddenly, everything will be over But here we know that we still have work to do.”he continued.
If he has new projects after this tour? Not really. He explained: “No, I’m going to take some time to think about what’s next. For the last three years, I've worked like crazy. I made the album 'Reflets' and its reissue, there was also the project 'Éphémère' with Ben Mazué and Gaël Faye [les trois artistes ont sorti un EP en 2022]. Mr. Aznavour should have taken two years full time”. Grand Corps Malade intends to take advantage of his tribe on the other side of the world. Indeed, he specified: “Then With my family, we decided to settle down in Montreal. It was an old project that we had in mind, we've been at it since June and it's going very well. It's a nice break.”. He will also perform on 11 dates between January and April 2025 and is already looking forward to it. “I met people there. And the concerts will be with Quebec musicians and technicians. Knowing other mentalities will be good.”, confessed the father of two to Nice-Morning.
Grand Corps Malade and his new life in Canada
On the subject of his temporary move to Canada, he gave an interview to our colleagues at Montreal Journal last June. The one who sang of his love for the Quebec metropolis in À Montréal, admitted that he nevertheless dreaded “a bit of winter“. “On the other hand, I am impatient to discover everyday life. I want to have more time to discover the little cafes on the terrace in the summer, the colors that change in the fall… and live like a real Montrealer”, he continued.
“The French slammer's last visit to La Belle Province dates back to 2018, on the occasion of the Francos. At the time, he was already toying with the idea of temporarily settling in Montreal with his family, but the pandemic had ruined his plans “remind our colleagues. Then the artist concludes optimistically about his upcoming tour: “The Quebec public is one that reacts a lotwho expresses himself, and that is super pleasant. I can't wait to see him again and I hope he hasn't forgotten me.”.
