On November 24, Dany Boon was one of Frédéric Lopez's three guests in A Sunday in the countryside on France 2. The comedian spoke alongside writer Virginie Grimaldi and singer Kendji Girac. The one who returns with a show entitled “Clown is not a profession” notably spoke of his decision to leave his parental home when he was only 15 years old in order to take his first steps towards his dream of becoming an actor. This choice did not find favor in the eyes of his father, Ahmed Hamidou.who then did not fail to let him know. He did not have the opportunity to see his son on stage or behind a screen since he died on December 27, 1992. “My father died a long time ago when I was 22. I was very sad, because you tell yourself that you won't see him anymore, you won't be able to talk to him anymore, the relationship ends, it's final. So I was very sad. I thought he left too soon. I was very young at the time to lose my father.”he already confided on Saturday November 4, 2023 in the show The Papotin meetings.
Sunday November 24, Dany Boon spoke a little more on this sensitive subject in the show A Sunday in the countryside. He remembered having “dreamed of [son] father when he died. Ahmed Hamidou suffered from leukemia and at the time, Dany Boon went back and forth between the Lille University Hospital and his “little place in Pigalle”. The actor said that one evening, after one of his performances, he dreamed of his father who told him that “everything is fine.” “He was very ill, and he had leukemia and I was told he will live 3 years maximum. He was very thin, very weak.”, he said. A dream that allowed the one who was making his debut on stage to feel “hyper soothed”: “This is the last image I have of him… This dream. It was strong, it helped me get through this complicated moment.” he concluded. If the man whose son fell in love with Laurence Arné's daughter had not really thought that it was a premonitory dream, he was finally awakened by a call from the nurses who told him that his dad was dead…
A complicated father-son relationship…
The relationship between father and son had unfortunately been rather tumultuous… “He was afraid that I wouldn't have a job, that I would be unhappy, sad, poor. They really bothered my parents, my father was very afraid that the same thing would happen to me”he admitted. And to remember in A Sunday in the countryside : “When I tell him that I want to be an artist, he says to me: 'Never, you'll be a tramp. Is that what you want?' He had a hard time, he worked very young too…”. However Dany Boon did not give up and decided to continue to believe in his dream. Everyone knows what happens next, except his father who will not have had the time to become a spectator of his son's success.
