look back at the impossible love story between Madonna and Tupac

PODCAST– Madonna went out with Sean Penn, Warren Beatty, the rapper Vanilla Ice, the basketball player Denis Rodman, the director Guy Ritchie but also the rapper Tupac. She was then 35 years old, and he was 22 years old.

In July 2019, it was a cold shower for Madonna. A very intimate letter that TuPac wrote to him is sold at auction. And this, even though she was firmly opposed to it. Its contents were quickly leaked by the press because everyone wanted to understand why the king of the West Coast wrote his words to the “queen of pop” on January 15, 1995, from Dannemora prison. In it, TuPac tells Madonna that he has too much pressure, that his relationship with her is harming his musical career. For what ? Because she is white.

TuPac writes: “Because of the racism in our society, it is difficult for a young black man to show affection towards an older white woman. Can you understand it? For you, being seen with a black man would not have compromised your career in any way, it could even have made you appear more open and exciting. For me, I felt like I was going to let down half the people who made me who I am today. I never wanted to hurt you. In fact, I was really into you, but I got scared.” With this missive, the rapper confirms it: no, Madonna was not just a crush. Besides, it all started between them in 1993.
