“He came in secret”: how Louis de Funès’ second wife sowed discord in the clan

All was not rosy within the Funès clan. As Laurent de Funès, the grandson of Louis de Funès, confided, tensions existed in the family because of a woman. It was in fact on the set of the show “Chez Jordan” broadcast on November 21, 2024 that he made some revelations. According to him, his father, a hidden son, and his grandfather were at odds because of the actor's second wife.

Jeanne Barthélémy absolutely wanted to isolate the first family from the second. She wanted to erase us
and she did it for a long time. My father had difficulty accepting the orders she wanted to give him. She was a very authoritarian woman.
” said Laurent de Funès. According to his words, he was even afraid of it. “She always came to disturb me, to disturb me (…) It was a way of leaving an imprint (…) It was with me because there was my father, she wanted to push us aside. She totally succeeded.” added the guest.

Laurent de Funès: “A dirty story about money”

I resented her for a long time, especially since I had nothing against her unlike my father. My grandfather when he came to see us in secret afterwards it was painful and heavy (…) My father had words with Jeanne (…) When she interfered too much in their relationship with Louis it was complicated. He then came in secret with the glasses and the hat, he wanted to be very discreet“said Laurent de Funès.

Note that despite everything, Louis de Funès had two children with Jeanne: Olivier and Patrick. “I have no relationship with them. My father at the beginning had a very good relationship with Olivier, he loved him very much. Patrick there was no problem at the beginning either and then there were some. I didn't try to find out but I ended up knowing. Jeanne distanced the whole family so they no longer saw each other. I believe there was a history of rights,
a dirty money story… It's always like that.
swung Laurent de Funès.

“My father was very angry with him”

My father was very angry with Jeanne and Patrick who was on his side“. explained Laurent de Funès. For seven years, this lasted despite attempts at reconciliation. “I have no bitterness. This story is out of my hands. I'm living my life and I don't want it to weigh on me.” he concluded.
