More than 10 years after suddenly withdrawing from the air, this famous presenter explains herself

It's been about ten years since Daniela Lumbroso disappeared from the radar. The former host made the heyday of TF1, notably with the show What if it happened to you before establishing himself as an essential figure on Télévisions. But suddenly, she deserted television sets. Very recently, she decided to give her news and explain her withdrawal.

Tuesday November 19, 2024, Daniela Lumbroso was the guest of Buzz of Figaro. The opportunity for her to talk about her new life, still in the media but on the other side of the camera. In fact, the one who had been humiliated in the middle of the show founded her own production company called Degel Prod. It therefore offers several programs, like The Oriental Song Festivalpresented by Laury Thilleman and André Manoukian on France 3. A program that is close to his heart: “ is my country, it’s my land, (…) and I’m a bit of an uprooted person. My music has lots of influences, first oriental since I was born in Tunisia, then opera since my parents are Italian, percussion since I grew up in Ivory Coast, and I would end with French song“.

Daniela Lumbroso pushed towards the exit: “It was not a choice”

If she seems fulfilled in this role of producer, this mother of three children – Lola born in 1992 from her past relationship with the lawyer Jean-Louis Bessis as well as Flora and Carla, fruits of her love affair with her current companion Eric Ghebali – has taken this path by force of circumstances. Because stop the TV, “initially it wasn't a choice at all“, she assures. “It's because at the time, before Me Too, we found that a woman after a certain age could no longer do television.“, continues Daniela Lumbroso.

On TV, men and women are not treated the same way

And to share a memorable memory: “I remember once when I got yelled at by my producer. I must have been 42 years old and I had a dress that must have been knee-length. And he told me: 'Stop now, you're 42, you can't wear a dress!'“A different reality than today.”50 years was really the extreme limit. Today that has changed, fortunatelyshe confides. Women can have the same career as men. Because ultimately, whether it's Nagui, Stéphane Bern, Laurent Ruquier, we are all from the same generation and I was the only one to whom we said: 'Okay, now we have to renew the generations!'
