strong position taken by Franco-Algerian actor Tahar Rahim

Nearly 44,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed in the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip which has lasted for more than a year. Since last September, the Israeli army has brought war to Lebanon, where civilians are also dying in large numbers.

The Franco-Algerian actor Tahar Rahim ranted about this situation. On the Canal+ set, he said he no longer recognized humanity, indifferent to what was happening in the Middle East.

Tahar Rahim is a star of French cinema. The 43-year-old actor, who also has Algerian nationality, notably won the César for best actor in 2010 for his role in “The prophet“, by Jacques Audiard. This year, he returned to the spotlight by playing the role of Charles Aznavour in the biographical film »Mr Aznavour” recounting the life of the famous French singer.

Since 2000, Tahar Rahim has taken part in around forty works, feature and short films, films and series. The actor also works for peace. What is happening in Palestine and Lebanon does not leave him indifferent. On the set of Clique, the show hosted by Mouloud Achour on Canal+, he used very strong words to denounce the crimes being perpetrated by the Israeli army.

« I say Palestinians and Lebanese, I cannot help but think of them who suffer there, who suffer from this injustice perpetrated with arrogance. I no longer understand humanity“, he declared, before appealing to the international community to do something. »What's happening there is terrible. I sincerely hope that at some point the world powers will wake up to stop this“added the Franco-Algerian actor.

Tahar Rahim on Gaza: “I no longer understand humanity

A rare voice that dares to express itself clearly“, greeted geopolitical analyst Pascal Boniface on X, sharing the video of the actor's appearance on Canal+.

This is not the first time that Tahar Rahim has publicly expressed his support for the Palestinian people. He was among the first figures to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In October 2023, a few days after the start of the Israeli aggression following the attacks on the 7th of the same month, the Franco-Algerian actor co-signed with other artists, including Dua Lipa, Joaquin Phœnix and Cate Blanchett, a column entitled “ Artists for ceasefire“, addressed to President Joe Biden.

We come together as artists and advocates, but more importantly, as human beings who witness the tragic loss of life and horrors committed in Israel and Palestine“, the artists wrote to the President of the United States.
